Email intake
Point a mailbox at Lithify and every email that lands becomes a brief. The subject becomes the title, the body becomes the description, attachments come along, and replies on the same thread stay attached to the original brief instead of starting a new one.
What turns into what
| From the email | On the brief |
|---|---|
| Subject | Title (falls back to "Email from sender" if there's no subject) |
| Body (HTML cleaned up) | Description |
| Sender | Stored as the submitter |
| Attachments | Brief attachments |
HTML cleanup
Mail that arrives as HTML gets stripped down to readable text before becoming the description — styles, scripts and decorative markup are removed, paragraphs are preserved as line breaks. The original is kept on the brief in case a reviewer wants to see it.
Setup
- Open Project → Intakes and create an intake of type Email.
- Connect a mailbox: provide the host, the credentials, and which folder to watch (default: the inbox).
- Optionally point a friendly forwarding alias at it (
support@yourapp.com) so submitters never see the underlying mailbox address.
Replies
When Lithify sends mail back (via the mailer agent) and the submitter replies, the reply is matched to the original brief and attached as a comment. New threads become new briefs; replies on the same thread don't.
Out-of-office storms. Auto-replies look like real replies. Lithify ignores well-formed auto-responder mail; if your relay can mark its bulk traffic as such, the noise drops to near zero.
